I specialize in supporting adults and teens with eating disorders, anxiety, depression, trauma, grief and OCD.

Therapeutic Approaches

Have you ever struggled to put your experience into words? Have you ever wanted to integrate creativity into your therapeutic process? Consider art therapy, a body-based and mindful approach that can be implemented to treat anxiety, depression, grief and trauma. You don’t have to be an artist to benefit from creative expression.

DIALECTICAL BEHAVIOR THERAPY

A “dialectic” is what happens when multiple things are true, the underlying principle of this approach. There are four components - emotion regulation, distress tolerance, mindfulness and interpersonal effectiveness. You can experience symptom relief, develop insight about your emotions and improve relationships.

EXPOSURE & RESPONSE PREVENTION

This type of therapy can help expand your “window of tolerance” through gradual “exposures” that are planned collaboratively. Whether the trigger is food, body-based, phobia-based or related to OCD, the approach can de-sensitize triggers over time, and reduce compulsions.

I have an anti-diet and weight-inclusive approach to treatment. Whether you’ve struggled with disordered eating for years, or are just looking to unpack your relationship with food - I look forward to supporting you at any stage of recovery! I have extensive experience working at the partial hospitalization and intensive outpatient levels of care, and working with Anorexia Nervosa, Bulimia Nervosa, Binge Eating Disorder, and Avoidant Restrictive Food Intake Disorder (ARFID).

THERAPY FOR EATING DISORDER RECOVERY

I am an approved supervisor by the Virginia Board of Counseling and I am included in their registry. Please email me to schedule a call to assess if we could be a good supervisor - supervisee match. The frequency of supervision sessions depends upon your clinical needs, and your other sources of supervision.

I also offer “as needed” consultation sessions for licensed professionals who are looking to expand their scope of competence with eating disorder care.
